Mr Kevin Cocks AM


 

Kevin Cocks AM is a highly respected human rights and disability advocate. Mr Cocks commenced his appointment as Queensland’s Anti-Discrimination Commissioner in February 2011.  He was reappointed in 2014 and 2015, and his final term came to an end in February 2018.  Mr Cocks is currently Executive General Manager of the Accessible Transport Network under the Department of Transport and Main Roads Queensland Government, and has previously also been Director of Queensland Advocacy Incorporated. 

Mr Cocks holds a Master of Social Welfare, Administration & Planning from the University of Queensland.

Mr Cocks has received a number of Community Recognition awards, including an Order of Australia (AM) in 2010 for promotion of Human Rights for people with disability in Australia, the Australian Human Rights Medal 2005 by the Human Rights and Equal Opportunities Commission (HREOC), and the Centenary Medal ‘for distinguished service to disability services in Queensland’ in 2003.  He also received the QUT Outstanding Alumni Award for Humanities and Human Services in 2003; an award which recognises the contribution of exceptional professional achievement and contribution to the community at local, state, national and international level.
